    January 21, 2019

Despite my chronic illness, I have quite the sweet tooth, and muffins are definitely one of my faves. So when I came across @rachlmansfield ‘s recipe that basically turned one of my favourite treats into a bread, I knew I had to try it. It was a bitterly cold weekend, and my kids had cabin…

Literally me at 3am after another ostomy leak… jus Literally me at 3am after another ostomy leak… just two days after the one I had on Mother’s Day ..Trying not to cry/laugh at the same time while changing my bag in the middle of the night 😭

Sometimes this life feels really heavy. The leaks, the exhaustion, the disrupted sleep, the laundry, the cleanup, missing work, canceling plans, and trying to pull yourself together when your body has other ideas. Some days it’s hard to see the silver lining in any of it.

Humour helps me cope. Making light of the chaos helps me survive it. But sometimes you just need a day to physically and emotionally recover from it all and honestly… today is one of those days 🤍

Mother’s Day isn’t just about us as moms. It’s ab Mother’s Day isn’t just about us as moms.

It’s about the grandmothers, aunts, cousins, extended family, and friends who stayed when motherhood started feeling heavy.

The ones who answer the “I’m overwhelmed” texts.

Who pick your kids up from school when your body gives out (shout out to my chronic illness warriors 😉) or when you just can’t be in two places at once

Who bring coffee, send the check in text, sit on the sidelines with you, and remind you you’re actually doing a good job on the days you feel stretched way too thin.

The moms who’ve seen you at your messiest, most exhausted, most overstimulated…and loved you anyway.

Because the truth is, motherhood doesn’t stop needing a village once the babies grow up.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms ..I am so grateful for my little village 💐💕

When you’re an emotional eater but you also have f When you’re an emotional eater but you also have fitness goals 🙏🏻💪🏻

Lately, I’ve been trying to make small swaps that actually satisfy the craving without leaving me feeling worse after. Instead of spiraling into a sleeve of cookies, I’ve been making these protein chocolate chip cookies that genuinely hit the spot.

🍌 1 banana
🥄 1/2 cup peanut butter (any nut butter will work)
💪 1/2 cup vanilla protein powder (I used Canadian Protein)
🍫 1/4 cup chocolate chips

Mix everything together, bake at 350 for 10–12 minutes, and finish with a little flaky sea salt on top.

They taste like a soft bakery-style cookie, but they also have protein and healthy fats that actually keep me full.

I’m learning that healing my relationship with food has looked a lot less like “perfect discipline” and a lot more like finding ways to meet myself halfway.

Not every craving needs to come with guilt. Sometimes your body wants comfort, and sometimes comfort can still nourish you.

Honestly, moments like this make healthy choices feel a lot less restrictive and a lot more sustainable. And that’s the kind of balance I’m trying to build.

Trying to unlearn the “all or nothing” mindset with food has been one of the hardest parts of my wellness journey.

Spring colds are the worst ! ❤️‍🩹 I’ve been feeli Spring colds are the worst ! ❤️‍🩹

I’ve been feeling under the weather so tonight I threw together this cozy tortellini soup and it absolutely hit the spot.

Warm, hearty, comforting, and packed with flavor 😊

Here’s the recipe:

• 1 tbsp butter
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 1 lb ground beef (I got mine at the Butcher Shop)
• 1 medium onion, finely diced
• 2 celery stalks, finely diced
• 2 carrots, finely diced
• 4 cloves garlic, minced
• 1–2 tbsp Italian seasoning
• 3-4 tbsp tomato paste
• 8 cups chicken broth (used extra to deglaze)
• 1 bay leaf
• 1 cup peas
• 2 x 350g packages of cheese tortellini (I used Longo’s)
• 1 cup freshly grated parmesan

Brown the ground beef until deeply browned, then add onion, celery, and carrots and cook until softened. Stir in garlic, Italian seasoning, and tomato paste and cook for a few minutes until rich and caramelized.

Deglaze the pot with chicken broth, scraping up all the flavorful bits from the bottom. Add the remaining broth and bay leaf. Simmer for 20–25 minutes.

Add tortellini and cook until tender. Stir in peas and parmesan until melted and cozy. Top with extra parmesan 👌🏻

Save this for your next cozy night in and send it to someone who needs a comforting bowl of soup right now 🫶🏻

Much love and #staygutsy 💜xo

It’s been a minute since I’ve done a #twocenttuesd It’s been a minute since I’ve done a #twocenttuesday post ..

The train station theory:

Life is a train station.
People get on. People get off. You get on. You get off.

Some ride with you for one stop,
others for a few stations.
And a rare few the whole journey.

The key is knowing who to hold onto and who to let go of.

Because the right ones they won’t make you question your place on the train.

And if you board the wrong train, get off at the next station. Because the longer you stay on the wrong path, the more it costs.

Just my two cents for today 🙏🏻
