3 Ingredient Chocolate Almond Butter Fat Bombs

September 26, 2018

I am attempting to follow a high fat, moderate protein, low carb diet (aka keto) and wanted to see what the hype about fat bombs aka fat fudge is all about. Let me tell you, this is my first time making fat bombs and I am in LOVE. If you’re like me and you love treats that are rich but not super sweet, fat bombs are the perfect snack for you.

Fat bombs are keto friendly as they are typically made with ingredients such as nut butters or coconut oil, cocoa powder, cream cheese or avocado, and little to no sweetener; however, you don’t need to be on a low carb or keto diet to enjoy them. Fat bombs are great for eating any time of the day because they are low in sugar.  Personally, I love having them as a nighttime healthy snack.

One thing I’ve learned about fat bombs is that they are extremely versatile. You can use different nut butters, add vanilla or other flavoured extracts, and you can also play around with sweeteners. For example, sub in macadamia nut butter for the almond butter to make it even lower in carbs. The choice is yours so use your imagination!

Ingredients

1/2 cup almond butter
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/4 cup coconut oil, melted
1/8 tsp sea salt
Stevia or 1 tbsp liquid sweetener of choice (optional)

Directions

  1. Stir all ingredients together until smooth
  2. Pour into a mini muffin pan (you can also use ice cube trays or candy molds)
  3. Pop them in the freezer for about two hours or until set.

Notes:
*If too your mixture is too dry (depending on nut butter used), add additional coconut oil as required
*Store in the freezer as the coconut oil melts easily
