Savoury Kimchi Yogurt Bowl

September 28, 2018

I love eating yogurt bowls…and this one is all about the gut health! My yogurt bowls are usually sweet, so today I wanted to change it up and give my yogurt a savoury twist by topping it with tasty, tangy, gut healthy kimchi!

The base of my lunch is full fat Olympic Yogurt. I absolutely love this yogurt. It is a Balkan-Style yogurt which is super thick and creamy. This yogurt is packed with gut healthy bacteria and is easier on the gut because full fat dairy contains less lactose than lower fat varieties. In addition, the butyric acid in full fat dairy products is especially beneficial to maintaining a healthy digestive…so full fat dairy for the win!

Let’s talk fermented foods. Eating fermented foods is key in improving gut health because these foods contain beneficial probiotics, digestive enzymes, and health boosting nutrients. I particularly love eating fermented foods for their taste and not just their gut healthy and disease-fighting properties.
So today, I added @wildbrine Korean Kimchi to my yogurt bowl. Kimchi is a fermented blend of cabbage, chili peppers, garlic, scallions, and other spices. In addition to its digestive benefits, kimchi is also rich in Vitamin A and C. The kimchi can be a bit spicy but, the yogurt cooled it down making it the perfect balanced bite!

Finally, I topped this bowl of fermented, gut healthy goodness with @pranabio chia seeds. I love incorporating chia seeds into my diet as they are an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids. They are also rich in antioxidants and provide fibre, iron, and calcium.

Ingredients
1 cup Olympic Plain Yogurt
½ cup @wildbrine Korean Kimchi
1 teaspoon @pranabio chia seeds

Directions
1. Add yogurt to a bowl
2. Top with Kimchi and Chia Seeds and you’re done!

Super simple, super yummy, super gut healthy!
